Video Inspection and Cleaning of Sewer and Storm Drain Systems

About - Vision NC

Vision NC was founded the early part of 2004 by Scott Hamre. Scott envisioned offering a service that catered to the inspection and cleaning of sewer and storm drain system.  Scott knew most large cities already had cameras for troubleshooting and assessing old systems.  Scott realized that while older system can be troublesome, a lot of the new systems being put in service were having problems immediately too.  Vision NC was created to provide assessments of the sewer or drain system help lessen the burden of the contractor and developer by allowing them to contract this work out.  During the construction phase, many factors can lead to immediate failure:

  • Graders who dislodge the man hole and storm drain covers causing rocks, dirt and other debris to enter the system.

  • Power, phone, and cable contractors who trench and bore cables thru the sewer utilities, physically damaging the system.

  • Poor installation or installation defects not seen when the system was installed.

Vision NC offers the complete package.  Cleaning the system is equally as important as identifying the root problem. For example, a new storm system is installed in a new subdivision.  During the development of the new community, construction debris is loose and enters the system because of heavy rains showers.  The new system stops flowing, the debris causes a bottle neck and soon the heavy rain builds up behind the clogged pipes.  Before you know it, the entire street is flooded and now the contractor is at risk of damaging an unfinished house because of the mud and water buildup.  This is a daunting task for the contractor.  Luckily Vision NC is able to help.  Vision NC employs advanced video inspection systems combined with strong and reliable Vacuum equipment.  One of the most powerful arsenals in their lineup is the Vaccon branded Jet/Vacuum combo truck, know as “The BOSS”, simply because it’s a Big Orange Sewer Sucker.  This is the same equipment that assisted in the cleaning of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama after the Katrina disaster.  Another member of the Vision lineup is the dependable Clean Earth Jet/Vacuum combo truck.  Both trucks are positive displacement vacuums that generate power from a giant Roots-Dresser blower unit.  The positive displace vacuums used by Vision NC are the superior choice over the common fan type vacuums.  The fan type vacuums may be cheaper to buy and maintain, but the positive displacement vacuums are faster and much stronger.  Even with the pickup tube completely immersed, Vision NC’s vacuums system will still get the job done.

By the later part of 2004, Scott teamed up with Brian Hicks who has extensive utility and construction experience.  By November 2004 the first camera and vacuum jet truck was ordered and delivered.  To continue to offer superior services for their customers Vision employed an Argo 8-wheel amphibian ATV with their video inspection equipment mounted on the back.  The makes Vision accessible to virtually every location.

Visions latest addition has been a Sprinter Camera Van. It gives Vision a whole new world of service, partially in the advanced software the system uses software.  This PC based system outputs the video in MPEG format that is compatible with nearly every modern day PC and is the same format 90% of the engineers are using to design the infrastructure we are inspecting. This gives Vision the ability to forward an MPEG assessment video to the local engineering department instead of a VHS or DVD.

Vision NC combination of equipment and experience will give you the results you need.  Unlike the competition, there is no job that is too remote or inaccessible.  Please contact Vision with any inquiries, pricing information, scheduling, or for your free estimate.
